Who we are

I am Angela Saidybah, a clinical social worker with a passion for travel, indigenous designs, and textiles. My journey began with the inspiration of my Aunt Gloria, who had African photography books and art in her home. From a young age, she taught me about our African heritage and the beauty of our people in all their diverse shades and colors. She inspired my love for African culture and design.

Fueled by a lifelong dream, I began traveling Africa, immersing myself in the rich traditions and intricate designs of various tribes such as the Maasai, Bolga, Bamana, Dogon, Fulani, and Tuareg. My travels were not just about discovering unique pieces; they were about connecting with the people and my ancestral roots.

After years of exploring Africa and sharing these treasures in Western Washington as a vendor, I noticed striking similarities in designs from indigenous cultures around the world. This realization—that these cultures were interconnected—led me to expand the brand globally. Today, I partner with artisans from across the globe, aiming to empower women to overcome economic disadvantage and the vulnerabilities of exploitation.

Every piece we carry is personally selected by me, with diverse women of different phenotypes and nations in mind. I believe that beauty and adornment are forms of medicine. When we embrace the idea of One Consciousness, we open ourselves to giving and receiving love from a place of deep understanding and unity.

The name Adeshe represents our reverence for the people and the craft. An Akan word from the people of Ghana, Adeshe means something precious, of high regard, royal, and pristine—qualities that we honor in every piece we offer.
